There is an Istanbul Theatre Festival running Aug 06-16 2006, apparently organised by Istanbul City Theatre's Director Nurullah Tuncer and another chap named Mehmet Acarca.
I found an article at :
http://www.dionys.org/dionys/eng/home.nsf/index.htm and was surprised to find the use of the 6 colour "gay" rainbow flag imagery. The symbol of peace is normally considered to be the 7 colours of rainbow. NPP have been proposing the Rainbow Bridge peace project to the Turkish authorities
http://npprainbowbridge.blogspot.com/ but were informed by an adviser to the Turkish Prime Minister the Rainbow Bridge project will never be realised under this AKP government primarily because of the controversial symbolic association with "gay San Francisco" imagery. Therefore, we are interested to see the theatre festival using the theme of peace with the rainbow colours regardless of whether there are 6 or 7 colours.
